Love Island is a reality show where contestants arrive in a stunning, idyllic location to date and form romantic connections. While the show is known for its drama, breakups, and steamy moments, its true heart lies in the genuine friendships that form—particularly the strong bonds of sisterhood and female empowerment that emerge throughout the season. Beyond the romance, it’s about connection, growth, and the unexpected relationships that matter most.

To me, Love Island is meant to embody romance, drama, and scandal—all set against the backdrop of a sun-soaked island escape. However, the current visual branding doesn’t reflect that identity. The bright, overly pop-inspired aesthetic feels surface-level and lacks the depth, personality, and emotional tension that are central to the show's true tone and appeal.

My redesign captures the true essence of Love Island, using bold, sensual imagery to engage and excite the show’s passionate, cult-like audience. The color palette is thoughtfully selected, inspired directly by the environment of the villa and its tropical surroundings—sunset skies, crystal-clear waters, and sun-soaked architecture—bringing authenticity and atmosphere to the visuals.
The logo redesign is rooted in the Love Island villa’s most iconic design element: neon signage. For dedicated viewers, the glowing phrases scattered throughout the space are instantly recognizable. I tapped into that visual language to create a logo that feels both familiar and fresh. The subtle flickering animation mimics the unpredictable nature of the island’s relationships—igniting, glowing, and sometimes fading.
In contrast to the bold, electric energy of the neon logo, the secondary typeface is soft and dainty. It introduces a sense of feminine elegance and intimacy, capturing the emotional layers of the show—the quieter moments of vulnerability, friendship, and personal growth. To balance the expressive type choices, the tertiary typeface is clean, versatile, and highly legible. It’s used for supporting information, body copy, and promotional details—ensuring clarity across platforms while allowing the primary and secondary type to shine. Its simplicity provides the functional backbone of the system, keeping the design practical and polished. This contrast between the loud, flashy neon and the delicate handwritten script reflects the dual nature of Love Island: both wild and tender, dramatic and deeply human.
